# Agent observability

> Visibility into agent behavior through screenshots and reasoning traces.

Deck gives you visibility into what your agents are doing. Task runs produce screenshots and reasoning traces that you can review in the [Console](https://console.deck.co). Review what your agent saw, the decisions it made, and how it completed the task.

## Screenshots

Deck captures screenshots automatically during execution, roughly once every 5 seconds. Screenshots are retained for 15 days. Screenshots show what your agent sees at each moment, giving you a visual timeline of the run.

Screenshots are available in the Console on any task run detail view, and through the API:

The response is paginated, oldest first. Each item includes:

| Field | Description |
| - | - |
| `id` | Unique identifier for the screenshot, prefixed with `stor_`. |
| `object` | Always `screenshot`. |
| `file_name` | Original file name. |
| `file_type` | MIME type, such as `image/png`. |
| `file_size` | Size in bytes. |
| `url` | Pre-signed, time-limited URL to download the image. |
| `reasoning` | The agent's reasoning captured at the time of the screenshot, if any. |
| `created_at` | When the screenshot was captured. |

## Agent reasoning

Each screenshot includes your agent's reasoning trace: what it observed on the page, what options it considered, and why it chose a specific action. Reasoning traces are attached to screenshots in the Console.

## Sensitive tasks

For tasks where the on-screen content itself shouldn't be viewed, mark the task as sensitive and the Console hides its live browser view, reasoning, and screenshots. Capture and retention are unchanged, and screenshots remain available through the API. See [sensitive tasks](https://docs.deck.co/concepts/tasks.md#sensitive-tasks).
